California emissions values

So here's a question. I have a 2000 4Runner that was purchased new in Arizona and brought to California in 2001, so it has the Federal Emissions Package which has less smog equipment than a California one. So I posed the question to the Air Resources Board, "does my Federal emissions vehicle have to meet the same standards as a California one, and do it with less equipment?" Their answer was "no, you only have to meet federal standards." Well, comparing 4x4Mike's smog results to mine, my threshold values are nearly 3X more stringent. So, I would like to see your results to compare among model years, emission packages and year of test.

Sorry can't help you out, we have no emissions testing requirements up here.

Most of us can't help you. Few states test for specific emissions components. Here in NJ, like most states that test except California, they just use the on-board diagnostics to get a Pass/Fail for emissions for all OBDII (1996+) vehicles. The state computer plugs into the OBDII--no sniffer employed.

ill see if i still have mine somewhere handy.

there are quite a few of us with 3rd gens in cali. some are cali emissions, some are not. some have 2 cats, some 1. this should be some useful information just to browse at.

i know i barely passed last time because of slowly failing o2's. im due for one in 10 months, so you might have to wait until jan or feb. for my report. i expect it to be about 1/4 of max levels.

Bruce, thanks for posting. Did you post your own HC Max, %CO2 Max and NO Max, or did you just leave my values in place?
If those are yours, weird. It means I am being held to California standards with less equipment. The Air Resources Board is telling me I should not be held to the same standards.
