    Tanto's 2002 4wd Tacoma....the "Turtle Taco"

    Ryan's 2002 Toyota Tacoma Doublecab 4wd SR5 TRD

It all started with a day run to Smuggler's Run in February of 2006 after I had my truck for about 2 years....

In March I added the CB radio, 285/75/16 BFG Mud Terrains, OME N91s shocks and Tundra Coils, a 1" RevTek Diff Drop, 8-leaf Deavers and OME n85 shocks, plus a 2" 4Crawler Body Lift. Later on I added a 4" Deckplate to my airbox.

By Death Valley two weeks later I got the Stubbs sliders welded on and the wheels changed out to ProComp Rockcrawler black steelies.

Sometime in April I Herculined the sides of my truck and the bed.

Sometime in May I had Jeremy at Weldtec Designs fab up a bedbar to mount my 60" HiLift jack.

In July I upgraded to a Total Chaos Long Travel bolt-on suspension complete with 2.5x8" King Coilovers with resevoirs and the long-travel Tundra CVs. Took 14 hours of straight wrenching with the seller of the kit to pull the kit off his truck, disassemble my front end and put everything back on including the limiting straps. I've never been so worn out, especially since we got done at about 4am in the morning and I had to drive an hour and a half to work!

December saw an Optima Redtop 34R battery installed to eliminate the acid scarring resulting from off-road use.

In January 2007 I had Jeremy once again work his magic on my truck and resulted in a prerunner-style custom front end with tabs for a couple lights...

In late January, after a disastrous wrenching day that stymied Eric, Andy, and I as to why I couldn't remove the bodylift, it turned out that the front bumper was built too close to the radiator so back to Weldtec to have that modified and I removed the bodlift. Andy did a great job helping me cut off my sliders for this.

In early February I did the "Corner Blink Mod" where I put a trailer light in my corner lenses so I would have better turn signals.

In late February I wired up my 3 Hella 4000 lights and Seth helped me out by repainting my fenders to match my truck.

In early March I had my King's revalved at 12/8 with a flutter shim in the compression side, 2" King airbumps installed on the front and a custom bumper-to-transfercase skid welded on, plus a rear bed mount for my fullsize spare, and had my sliders rewelded.
