i have monster screw in stakes but most the time the air mattress and duffel bags inside the tent keeps it down. shouldnt be windy at the end of the month.

Cool. Then it all just boils down to whether or not I fix this fuel issue this weekend or not and if Doc says it's "OK" to be on my leg. (9yr/old+SoccerBall vs. Adult w/ unprotected shin, kid won.)
any one know if there any other events going on, or did any one reserve camp nights, i thought you could do it online though the park but cant seem to find the info thanks james

I've never done it online. Always showed up and never had a problem. Our event is just post peak dates so you should be fine just showing up.
As for other conflicting events, I haven't seen anything or have been able to find any events so we should have the whole site to ourselves + other families that are out there to explore the dunes.

We're heading out Friday morning, so we should be there sometime Friday afternoon. Looks like we're staying in a hotel this year (wife wants somewhere to sleep without sand ). Is it possible to pre-purchase day passes, or would I just be better off buying the overnight passes? I don't remember what the day pass fee is..

I only like my small tent out there when it's windy, much more sturdy.. The big tent is nicer though.Originally Posted by Seanz0rz

Out of the possible 999 reserveable "spots" on ReserveAmerica, less than 50 have been reserved. I don't foresee any problems just showing up, and I see no reason to reserve ahead of time. As Lance said, we're post peak-season, so we should be fine. Now, if we were going the 4th of July or any holiday, you better believe you need to reserve ahead of time. I went this last New Year, I had to reserve my spot in early November, and I got one of the last 15 spots.

Yeah. we've never had an issue with having a spot on the beach and we drive down from northern california. we just kinda show up, pay and proceed to the event location.

I spoke to a ranger about last years 4th of July, and he said that all 1000 spots sold out within 90 minutes of them going on sale  but on off-peak, non-holiday weekends I have never had an issue.
