I guess you could say this is phase II. Here is what I have planned for the next couple of months;
Hudlow axle D60 rear (65")- Semi-float 35 spline chromo's, yukon 4.88s, ARB air locker, chevy disc brakes.
Fox 2.0 RR shocks all around. either 14s front and 16s rear or 16s all around.
PSC power steering kit.
Hydro assist and tapped box I got from duby.
Fuel cell and flat belly skid plate.
Tube doors and remove carpet.
Cut off the exo and re-do some things, mainly the roof.
Finally, Hood pins to move the cowl bar down to the hood.
I started on it today, managed to find out the threads are screwed up in the pulley shaft. Since it wouldnt take the bolt I figured I'd tap on the pulley. well it broke the cap off the back of the pump (P.O.S) so that put an end to the day. Also the carpet is completely out but nothing has been done to finish in the floor.
Ill get some pics up when there are some to be taken.

If you have a PSC pump, you have to tap one hole on the pump.
I will get the PN for the right belt from Goodyear when I take my truck out this afternoon.
Now we need pics!

I can see it threaded down in the shaft. Looks like the first 2 threads are all kinds of messed up.
Yes I do have the PSC pump, and they better exchange it. Which hole has to be tapped?
and thanks for getting that belt number. Hopefully Ill need the belt...

The new box is in, and the frame sleeves are fixed :D.
Fabbed up the steering reservoir bracket. Its amazing the goodies that can fit under the hood with the ABS crap gone.

Still gotta plate the skid but I dont have the material right now.

and the "M" is for mossyrocks, so no copying....

and the 60 should be under it and rolling by saturday morning.

Well, with two bent rear shafts...... again, I decided it was time to do away with the rear axle. I put in my order for a built 60 from hudlow axle yesterday morning. Should be done by middle of next week.
Ive decided that I am putting on a supercharger with the URD fuel kit.
The gas tank only holds about 7 or 8 gallons now and the skid keeps getting hung on the drive shaft so the fuel cell is very high on the list.
And Ive decided to link it front and rear. If I can manage to move some crap Im gonna run 16" coilovers on the front up to or through the hood. And then either 16" coilovers through the floor in the back or 16" shocks with coils.
The crawler is coming before the links though. And probably a twin stick on the transfer case.

Also installed a wilwood proportioning valve and residual valve.
And just finished a gm 1 ton master cylinder install today. On a side note about that: Final straw, the difference in quality of the gm and toyota M.C.s is just mindblowing. The toyota M.C. seems like its machined from some beautiful steel and the GM M.C. is just a nasty lump of cast iron shit.

Woah, I don't know how I missed this update! Congrats on the 60! When I finally get around to building my truggy I'm thinking about going with some 60s right off the bat so I don't have to worry so much about it. How much did you have to narrow down that housing and are the shafts custom?

I read his post up on ttora, hes going internal cage, 3/4link setup all the way around and a crawler? which crawler are you getting, inchworm or marlin? if you go inchworm, just say you heard it from me :), Jim loves hearing me endorse his stuff.
i cant wait to see this. you gonna bob the rear at all? I got an idea for a rear topper, do something like the military hummers had, a downward slopping canvas or something, would look good and not get in the way of stuff.

blue will just be welded to the caps for looks and stability. The green will be inside of those coming off the coilover hoops and tying into the cage. The will also double as the canvas support.

Heres a rough sketch of what it will look like. Along with the roof rails that will be part of the cage. Take some nakedness away from the roof and also be used for hauling camping gear. Hell, they might even save the roof a little in a roll-over.

please do not ever refer to anything as remotely resembling a chevy. I will never in my life own a gm. (ford or dodge either). If someone gave me any chevy for free and I was homeless, I wouldnt even consider taking it. I hope the damn company goes bankrupt. It would be the happiest day of my life. I think their designiners are morons, I think the people in the factories are retards, and honestly I think a pile of &^%$ would hold up better. I think they are the epitome of what garbage is. Complete and utter junk, a complete waste of metal, and they should be above hitler in the top ten failures of the human race.

Im thinking those numbers are really close. If im thinking what your saying. I hope to have the glass in this weekend and also have the rear sealed. I pulled a line across the hatch where the glass goes and there is a little under a half inch from lexan to headrest. Which gives "me" about 4"s of headroom to the glass if I sit normally. If I lay my head over the headrest Ill slightly hit but with lexan instead of glass Im not too worried about someone getting hurt.

The two bastard tubes on either side made me want to put a gun to my head. No two bends are on the same plane to hug the interior as close as possible and there is no room for error at each end of them.

I would have done a power rear window but the coilovers will be underneath the glass. And it is nice having it sealed, I love wheelin in the snow and even the rain actually. Atleast it only takes 2 minutes to take out and it fits behind the seat.

The only thing left on the inside is where tubes on the roof come back in. roof sliders I guess you could call them. thats where the x will be as well, so no I didnt forget about my passengers. I was just leaving them headroom because the rear seats sit higher than the front. Might save the sunroof anyway.
here it is with the rear-view and map lights done. And through the dash is done. The cage is to the frame.

The plate at the floor has a tube welded to it from underneath that goes to the frame. the plates only there to seal the floor and give it a larger surface area and it is not welded or connected in any way to the floor. That way Ill have no cracking on the body.

Here is the passenger handle. Welded to the dash bar. I got the whole dash back in as well, so far everything works like it should. I replaced all the bulbs in the cluster and climate controls with blue leds. Green led on the ign. and in the glove box. Definately brightened it up from the worn out green bulbs.

I was just actually talking about a simple rearend accident which could throw a passenger's head forward. But, after looking at it again, I think it is low enough that they would still just hit the dash. Looks great, I would hate to cover it also, I was thinking a BMX handle bar pad, lol.
I like the roof, are there plans for moveable crossbars for loads, bikes, etc...?

I think Im just gonna finish in the roof. I am considering a bolt on basket for camping stuff level with the bed sides though.

Are you still running factory body mounts? or did you already remove them and make the frame and body rigid? Asking because those mounts won't hold if the rest of the body can move from the frame.
Since you've gone this far, why not simply cut the core support completely off and tube the whole front, it will make life so much easier when it comes to doing the shock towers

Full compression puts the diff 3/8" from the oil pan and puts the frame 21.5" off the ground on 37s. I could move it forward a little and gain some but thatll probably be good. Or even notch the oil pan.

got the lower link axle mounts done today. And then the thinking process with the tires started.
http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f35/mossyrocks/4runner15001.jpg
This is sitting at a frame height of 24.25" with 3" of vertical compression. If I move the axle further forward its gonna get friendly with the headlight, any more back and I lose oil pan clearence. Im 50/50 right now on sending these back for 37 12.50s. Id just like to be a little bit lower if I could and these are taller than I expected so Im thinkin Ill lose a lot of streetability with them.
http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f35/mossyrocks/4runner15003.jpg
http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f35/mossyrocks/4runner15006.jpg

This is the only problem when stuffing the driver side, I can either put a slight bend in it or move it to the middle hole on the frame end. It doesnt touch until its fully stuffed though so it doesnt need much at all.

I just cant get enough of flexing this thing...

Here is the clearence on the shock, plenty of room for coils.
http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f35/mossyrocks/4runner22004.jpg
And the tire hits the link before it gets into the coilover hoop, I was worried about that one.

Its so nice when things actually work out for once. Now I just hope the steering clears everything.

What do you guys think of this? Itll be flanged and bolted when I get around to it. Or I might just leave it and put flanges on whenever I have to pull it out later on. Either way doesnt really matter.

And Ill had some gussets or something to it as well.
Lastly, I have to find a 90 for the brake line coming out of the master cylinder. And yes, I know that line is kinked, its all going in the trash.

What about heat, is the temp gonna be a problem for those res.?

Not for crawling, the reservoirs arent really even needed unless its a desert truck.

I like the hoops, but not crazy about the res mounts.... I like the look of them down near the shocks, like you have in the rear....

yeah, even with crawling, you could see +200*F on those resoviors with the heat from the engine. i'd worry about shortening the lifespan on them with that kind of constant heat...

just mount the resoviors down where they were hanging on the front portion of the shock hoop.....
those 3.4's run HOT too...

Ive been giving it thought since I put them there. I dont have a clue where they're going to be honest...
However, alot of people run them there so who knows.

either the rear or front portion of the shock hoop will be fine, just thought the front would be easier to access when you need to recharge them, beside the hoses are already facing foward :D

If I dont put them under the hood, then the deciding factor on which side of the hoop they go on will be which one of the sides I bring a tube off of to the motor mount... lol
Im starting to feel like everything is waiting on everything.

Heres another shot of the hood.
http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f35/mossyrocks/4runner25009.jpg
Since the tubework under the hood matches the tubing above the fuel cell I figured Id match it with some stainless like Ive got out back as well.

Im building it all first and then putting ID tube clamps on each corner. And Chris, last time I changed the belts I did it all from underneath.

Alright, finally got some more done. Still need to box in and gusset the steering arms/drag-link bracket. Everything clears though. I guess the hydro is next on my list of things to do.
Steering box is mounted

The tie rod is 1.5" 1/4 wall sleeved with 1.75" 1/8 wall. All the lower links are getting sleeved just like this too.
