97 4runner Limited<br />2wd--->4wd Conversion
That one has been for sale for a while now.
Nobody is going to pay $22k for a 1999 4runner just to have a diesel motor.

If i had the money i would buy it and to that dual fuel diesel/veggie oil setup.
Very clean rig.

26+ mpg, thats hard to believe, maybe in the 23-25 range.

sadly you wouldn't be able to register that vehicle in california because the transplanted engine (97) is an older engine compared to the body of the vehicle (99). the price is definitely up there.
you can easily pay the same for a completed land cruiser 80 series with a diesel swap already performed! not sure why I would want a smaller vehicle for the same price.
does look clean though... bleh!

Not everyone wants a Bigger 80 series Lance :-P
There was a 97 for sale on ebay once, limited with the locker and same engine for actually 3k more! which surprised me.

I realize that truck is nothing special to folks outside of the U.S., but that truck is almost exactly what I would want, minus the auto trans.
If my truck were smog exempt, I would do a 1KZ swap. 26 mpg is entirely believeable. That's only 6 mpg better than what I get now and I think I've read the overseas diesel Surf with a manual trans gets 29 mpg highway.
The fuel economy is definately better, you can expect the MPG to be about 30% better with a diesel vs gas motor.Originally Posted by paddlenbike

26 sure would be nice, my Tacoma gets about 16.... could be due to my size 14 foot though.
