Once again the San Diego Crew put on a great event. With the exception of freezing evenings with no campfires and a little body damage sustained by some, the weekend was perfect. Had a good mix of vehicles with a 1st gen pickup, a bunch of 4runners, 1 Tacoma, and 2 Heeps.

We ran Gold Mountain and John Bull, both of which were harder than in years past.

i arrived up at camp on friday, about 7pm. i took a different entrance, and stumbled on one of the most beautiful roads i have ever been on:

friday night was pretty cold, and most of us staggered off to bed relatively early. Saturday morning we awoke and got to the head of Gold Mountain literally seconds before the jeep group got there. This trail was relatively uneventful for the most part, besides mikey getting hung up on a huge rock.

once we finished Gold Mountain, we went back to camp for a quick lunch, then headed out to John Bull.
here are a bunch of pics of people going up the gate keeper:

after John Bull, we returned to camp for a slightly early dinner, which was excellent thanks to everyone who brought what they brought!!! good times... hahaha. i bailed out early, it was cold and windy, and somewhere on john bull when i hit my front bumper on a big rock, i hurt my back a bit.

    now for the carnage report:

Gold Mountain: i lost my FM antenna from the fender. the spot welded bracket on the inner fender finally fatigued the metal so much, it fell off, with a nice round piece of inner fender still attached. guess its time to do the taco whip mod.

on John Bull, i took a bad line, and ended up crushing my right front door, and denting my slider a bit. i can pop most of the dent out, and i was planning on painting from the body line crease down soon, so not a huge loss, but still pissed as hell.

and somewhere else on the trail i managed to hit the other side of my rear bumper:

beyond that, lots of scraped skids and sliders, used the front bumper a couple of times, and managed to hurt my back on the trail, rendering me unwilling to sleep on a plank of wood another night. plus it was cold.

as always, had a blast with the socal crew! i always have so much fun with you guys! nice meeting people i havent met before, and i look forward to the next wheeling trip with you guys! you all rock!!!

What a killer weekend!!! Good to meet some new folks and get to know others better. Mikey - thanks for the welt in my arm. I will be bringing my semi-auto air gun next time and you will go down.

Gold Mtn. is always a good warm-up run and proved to be just that for the main event of John Bull. There was more traffic then I remember but all went well and we all got our share of love from JB. Once again I saved my truck from certain sheetmetal death due to my sliders and rear-bumper. We will have to make this an annual event but try next time to figure in some heating arrangements. HOT ROCKS RULE. Speaking of hot rocks - how many of us are now feeling the effects of that granite?

These are a poor attempt at pictures but I'm just not that guy. BTW - nice pics so far from those that can multi-task.

And who can forget our neighbor in the "Tent Majal". THis thing was freakin awesome and only starts at 14g. Apparently this one topped out at 18.5.
