Well, I always considered the breakdown sorta like this:
East: Everything east of the Mississippi and Ohio Rivers.
West: States of Wyoming, Colorado, New Mexico, Montana, and any state farther west.
Everything else is just central plains.
But if I had to divide it into only east and west, I would do it like this:
Almost divides the states up evenly.
