Thread: Solid Axle Swap Section

    Solid Axle Swap Section

So recently I have been contemplating the idea of SAS'ing,
Not just for my truck but other possible candidates out there as well.

Now I know that Site such as TTora and Pirate4x4 have tons of info on doing a solid axle swap
Most of them are more focused on the pickups and Tacoma's.

Not saying that there is a bunch of runner guys over here doing an SAS.
But I know there is a few, I know of at least two 3rd gens that have done it and a 1st gen.

Another thing is that all three candidates have done entirely different set ups.

Now I know each person has a build thread in there designated year section, but it would be nice to just have one section devoted to SAS'ing.

Sort of have it set up like TTora has it with a tech section.
I was thinking could use the tech section as a discussion section,
going over different ideas for different set ups possible.
Since there seems to be almost an endless amount of possibilities that wouldn't be a bad idea.

    Then a parts list section,
Here we can list different parts that one might use when sas'ing a certain way.
such things as adapters that one might use, or axles, or t-case and so on and so on.
Range all the way down to the leaf pack, coils, or shocks used.
This way folks can get an idea of what is available to them and what they might want to use on their particular set up.

Then a build section for those in the process or are planning to modify there truck with a SFA.
Here they can receive comments and thoughts from other on there particular set up and what they might want to use or avoid and little hints to help them get the job done right and safely so they can have an Ultimate Yota going down the road.

    This is just a though.

Maybe from this particular idea we can spawn more.
Such as section for long travel lifts, set up a similar way?
From custom front to already available kits, and then custom rear set ups,
I know Bruce and Lance have there different set ups.

Again just a suggestion obviously lol.

Lets here some thoughts I guess?

    Re: Solid Axle Swap Section

I would say just make a child board in the "Design and Fabrication" section. Right now the only child board is "Tools.."

Yes, the fab board is intended to be used for SAS's. Looking forward to the build.
