    I am confused?
Do you have an issue with the a/c not coming on?
or are you just worried about the 'click'?

That click you hear should be the a/c clutch engaging in the engine bay when you hit the a/c button.

As long as the engine idle jumps then falls steady, you shouldn't be having any issue...

it clicks on and off so the idle jumps up all the time this is annoying part.

Probably low R134/R12, check the system for leaks and or being low.

Basically what your saying is you turn it on and the thing keeps clicking on and off (thats the AC relay and or compressor) and your idle goes nutty.

What CJM said, if it keeps kicking on and off your low on refrigerent.

When was the last time you used the A/C?
If you have let it sit a while, the seals could have dried up a bit and leaked the refrigerent.
I would still take it and see if they can get a pressure reading for you or perform a leak test.

If you have r12, this might also be a good time to consider updating the system to r134-a.
Few fittings, a new dryer, and the propped oil after recovery and your set.
