    Anyone need a black '99 5-speed/elocker Highlander 4Runner?

This is as rare as it gets, a '99 black Highlander 5-speed with the factory e-locker. It's not mine and I have no affiliation with the seller, just want to see it go to a loving ultimateyota family.

I'd be interested in seeing how much this goes for especially after our talk about KBB, 3rd gens and 5 speeds.

The CARMAX searchable database only goes back to 2000...there are only four 3rd gens available between the years 2000 and 2002 across the United States. A 2001 2WD base model for $12,849, a 2002 2WD SR5 for $13,450, a 2002 2WD Limited for $13,998 and the only 4WD model is a 2002 Limited for $14,599. These prices are consistent with the asking prices at the used car dealerships near my house. Granted, you generally don't pay asking price, but the 3rd gens have proven to be exceptionally good trucks and they still look awesome. Demand and used prices seem to reflect that. I sure like mine.

Is 9500 the going rate for a '99 4Runner on the west coast? I know it's a rare model, but 9500 seems kinda steep for a 3rd gen with 170k on it. I paid less than that, and my 5spd had 81k on it. Granted, I don't have an elocker, but still...

Cool 4runner thought! I wish I had an elocker.

drive over here, ill drop one in for ya!

9500 is a bit much... but i guess some people will pay that for what most would consider the perfect 3rd gen, and indeed the perfect 4runner.

im happy with my slushbox, except for the clear coat coming off of my hood and roof.

Surprisingly people in general are wanting a lot for the 4Runners.
I just had a 99' limited loaded with the e-locker come in to the shop last week, one I had my eye on last year when it came in.
It needs both cats and a climate control head unit, parts alone at my cost is 3k.
It also needs a body ECU which is another 300, Timing belt and all the goodies (last done at 59k, truck is at 143k now) radiator and a flush of that system as well as the trans fluid.

All and all 5k worth or repairs, guy wants 4k for it....

I kbb'd mine at $9,155. It also says it would be worth $9,555 if it were an auto.

Wow, who knew that 4runners are appreciable assets? I just looked up KBB on my 2000 Sport 5spd with 97k and it is now $9380 in good condition and $9930 in excellent condition. I bought it in December of 2009 with ~84k miles and the KBB at that time was somewhere around $8300 (I bought the truck for $8200).

    Seanz0rz,

I've been looking for a 4.10 e-locker to swap into my truck for over a year now, you wouldn't happen to have a line on one would you? Thanks to Mike I have the modified housing in the garage, but have not been able to find a good 3rd member yet.

matt, i dont have a line on one, except the diff in my truck, but you cant have that one

i know the price is steep, but buying a new one from the dealer or a place like inchworm is a mighty nice prospect...

keep searching craigslist and places like pirate. they pop up fairly often...
